Block+ Testing out build

Posted in All Posts, Blocks+ on January 20th, 2012 by David

I’ve recently been converting my .EXE games into HTML5 games, so it makes it easy for people to play in their browser. The first one going through this change is the new game I’m working on called Block+. The game is in a very early stage, so there isn’t much of a game right now. However, if anyone wishes to play it and give some feed back on what you’d like to see in the game, please feel free to leave a comment on this post!

Recap (2011)

Posted in All Posts on January 15th, 2012 by David

I thought it would be a good idea to recap everything I’ve done this past year, so it will be easy to access in the future. That said, here is the run down:

Game Design

Block+ (In Progress)

002

The goal of Block+ is to Multiply, Divide, Add, and Subtract to get the the goal number. You have 100 steps to make this happen. The less steps you use to complete this goal the more bonus points you recieve at the end of the round. This is an educational game aimed at helping childen learn basic math skills while having fun.

Blame (Project Mystery) (In Progress)

Blame (title pending) begins with the player controlling protagonist Clyde, who has just staggered off a train, startled from his sleep by the hiss of screaming brakes.  Right off the bat, Clyde is handed a deck of “Rock, Paper, Scissors… the card game” and finds that no one in the town of Middlewillow can resist a match. Soon the hero finds the strange town is run by a Mayor who is also a feline (Yes, a cat). He is told two things, one: A young girl is missing; and two: no one may leave town until she is found.

This is by far the biggest of the Game projects as it is a whole team working on it. I focus on all the graphics while there is a writer and a programmer working on it as well.

Zombie Diggers (Complete)

Zombie Diggers is an arcade based block game where you use zombies to gain points and to eat all the humans. You have 10 levels to collect over 100,000 points for your Daily Zombie Quota, while still eating all the humans before time runs out.

Painting

100 Days of Painting (In Progress)

This was one of the bigger projects of 2011. I spent 100 days of painting a new painting each day. I still have a ways to go, but I’m a good 70+ paintings in!

31 Days of Zero Suit Samus Live Action Project (In Progress)

This project has been featured on Kotaku and SuperPunch!

About a month ago, my friend came to me with the idea of recreating another artist’s work. The project in question was by Chris Furniss and titled 31 Days of Zero Suit Samus. The idea was simple, take the original drawings and make them with real people. As of now, I have completed three images, and I’m working on another ten.

I did a photoshoot with my friend who cosplayed as Zero Suit Samus. I then edited the images to bring them into the Metroid world.

Trying Out Claymation+No More Ads!

Posted in Personal Updates on January 12th, 2012 by David

Claymation

I finally decided to throw caution to the wind and just buy a bunch of claymation clay. It was costly, but trying out claymation has been a longtime dream of mine. I decided to just practice some sculpting for now, so I’ve been modeling some of my characters that can be found here.

Not great, I know, but they are still in progress!

No Ads!

I’ve decided to get rid of the advertisement on Hugyu.com. I was using the money to support the costs of the site, but I feel it is unprofessional to have ads on a site about myself. That said, everyone please enjoy the  brand new ad free Hugyu.com!
